Tough Women in Tough Jobs
They are a small but mighty group of women serving in some of the most challenging roles you can imagine. Their jobs are tough, but these ladies are even tougher, overcoming any challenge they face with the grit of gladiators.
In honor of Women’s History Month, we decided to acknowledge and highlight some of the fierce women who serve our Dallas community. Each day, they show up to work and make a huge impact on their departments and the community we serve. Through public engagement, recruitment and tireless effort, these women empower the residents of Dallas and inspire the youth.
Though these six women make up only a small percentage of the many strong women at the City of Dallas, they represent almost 100 years of experience serving the public and saving lives. With a common dream of helping people and making an impact in the community, these women have broken through many barriers to become leaders in their respective fields. From fighting fires to investigating them, recruiting top talent to serve our great city and taking criminals off the streets, this group of courageous women inspires young women across Dallas to always follow their dreams and be strong no matter the obstacles they will face.
Though women make up only 30% of the workforce at the City of Dallas, many have become leaders in their departments, making up almost half of the City’s departmental leadership. Pushing through negativity, doubt and hardship, Dallas’ fierce females have shown excellence in their respective roles and continue working to make this city a great place to live and work and we could not be more proud.
